Incident at the International Border

On Monday, a Pakistani infiltrator was apprehended in a wounded state following gunfire from Border Security Force (BSF) personnel near the international border in Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir. Officials reported that the individual was part of a group attempting to cross into Indian territory under the cover of darkness. Around 4 PM, vigilant BSF troops spotted the intruders between the Chandwan and Kothe border posts in the Hiranagar sector and ordered them to halt. Despite repeated warnings, the intruders ignored the commands, prompting the BSF to open fire, resulting in one of them being injured.

Injured Intruder Taken into Custody

The injured infiltrator was subsequently arrested and transported to a hospital for medical treatment. Authorities indicated that the identity of the individual and the motives behind the attempted infiltration are subjects of ongoing investigation. Last month, the BSF had established its first 'drone squadron' for deployment along the India-Pakistan border. Following lessons learned from Operation Sindoor, the force has begun enhancing its security measures and outposts against potential UAV attacks.

New Drone Squadron for Enhanced Security

Sources revealed that this newly formed squadron will be operated from a control room located at the BSF's Western Command headquarters in Chandigarh. The primary responsibility of the BSF is to secure the India-Pakistan international border. The decision to create this unit came after a recent review of the force's strengths, weaknesses, and threats following Operation Sindoor.
