BSF and SAI Host Volleyball Tournament to Promote Youth Engagement in Sports
A Collaborative Sporting Event for Local Youth
The Border Security Force (BSF) Sector Headquarters in Rajouri, in partnership with the Sports Authority of India (SAI), has successfully organized a three-day volleyball tournament titled 'SPANDAN - Sport for Peace and Development Across the Nation' at the District Sports Complex Stadium.
Running from May 21 to May 23, the tournament has attracted 14 teams, comprising eight boys' teams and six girls' teams from the border districts of Rajouri and Poonch.
This initiative aims to foster sportsmanship among the youth and promote a drug-free environment through active sports participation.
Inauguration and Participation
The event was inaugurated by DIG Sector Headquarters BSF Rajouri, Chander Mohan Singh Rawat, alongside BSF officials, SAI representatives, local dignitaries, and sports enthusiasts.
For the first time, the BSF has provided a significant sporting platform for girls in the region, generating excitement and appreciation among local youth and participants.
Players expressed their joy at the opportunity to showcase their skills, emphasizing that the Pir Panjal region is rich in sporting talent that requires encouragement and exposure.
Support and Engagement
BSF officials are committed to providing comprehensive support for all participating athletes, including accommodation, meals, and necessary arrangements throughout the tournament.
Youth from both Rajouri and Poonch districts have shown active involvement in the competition, indicating a rising interest in sports within border areas.

During his address, DIG Chander Mohan Singh Rawat emphasized the vital role of sports in cultivating disciplined, confident, and responsible youth. He noted that sports activities are crucial in steering young people away from drug abuse and other societal issues.
"This competition serves not only as a platform for showcasing talent but also as a significant opportunity for personal development, healthy competition, and enhancing the sports culture. Tania Sharma, a participant, expressed her enthusiasm, stating that the tournament is a fantastic opportunity for girls, particularly those from villages where outdoor participation is often discouraged. She appreciated the support provided, including track suits, and expressed hope for more tournaments to encourage greater female participation in sports.
"The tournament organized by the BSF is a great platform for girls. In our village, girls are usually discouraged from outdoor activities. This tournament is a wonderful initiative. We have received track suits as well. I hope the BSF continues to organize such events so that we girls can participate more," she remarked.
