BRS Leader Manne Krishank Arrested Over Controversial Banner in Telangana

In a significant political development, BRS leader Manne Krishank was arrested by Telangana Police following the installation of a controversial banner outside a hospital in Secunderabad. The banner accused Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and his family of corruption related to a substantial financial transaction. Krishank claims his arrest is a tactic by the ruling party to avoid addressing serious allegations he raised. As the situation unfolds, many BRS leaders have rallied in support of Krishank, highlighting the ongoing tensions between the BRS and the Congress party in Telangana. This incident raises questions about political accountability and freedom of expression in the region.

Hyderabad, Oct 6: On Tuesday, Telangana Police apprehended BRS leader Manne Krishank in connection with a case involving a banner that was placed outside a hospital in Secunderabad, which contained allegations against Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and his family.

The social media convenor of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) was taken into custody at his home and subsequently transported to the Gopalpuram Police Station in the Malkajgiri Commissionerate.

A complaint filed by Sai Kumar, a member of the ruling Congress party, led to the registration of a case against him and others on Monday.

Krishank and others are facing charges under sections 353 (2) and 352 of the Bharat Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) as per the First Information Report (FIR).

A banner stating “Congratulations, Revanth Garu-for Rs.13,200 crore” was displayed outside a Secunderabad hospital on Sunday. On the same day, police detained two BRS leaders for putting up the banner.

Krishank claimed that Medicover Hospital was sold for approximately Rs 13,200 crore and accused the Chief Minister’s family of laundering black money through this deal.

In his defense, Krishank asserted that his arrest was a result of the ruling party's inability to respond to his allegations.

“This is unprecedented; someone has been arrested for merely holding a press conference at Telangana Bhavan. I presented evidence and raised questions about individuals who are directors at Medicover and Max Bupa also being involved in schools established by Revanth Reddy's daughter. I inquired about the allocation of land valued at Rs 200 crore to Tesseract, a company owned by Revanth Reddy's brother. Despite three days passing, no one from Revanth Reddy's family has responded. My arrest is a direct result of their fear to answer these inquiries,” he stated.

Following his arrest, Krishank was brought before a court in Secunderabad, where he is expected to be presented to a magistrate. Numerous BRS leaders gathered at the court to express their support.

BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao criticized Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Chief Minister Revanth Reddy in a tweet on Tuesday, sharing Krishank's post.

“You question the corruption of Rahul Gandhi Ji’s unlimited ATM called Revanth Reddy. Of course, the Feku Gandhi of 420 promises will face legal actions. File as many cases as you wish, Mr. Feku Gandhi; BRS will persist in exposing the corrupt Congress thugs. This is my commitment to you. More revelations are on the way,” Rama Rao wrote.
