Tragic Incident in Chandigarh

On March 18, a shocking incident occurred in Chandigarh when a 31-year-old property dealer was shot dead in broad daylight outside a gym located in the high-security Sector 9 area. This event has caused widespread panic among residents.

This marks the second shooting incident in Chandigarh within a 24-hour period, highlighting growing concerns about safety in the region.

Charanpreet Singh, who resided in New Chandigarh, was targeted by two assailants on a motorcycle. They opened fire at close range as he was about to enter his car parked nearby, discharging at least eight rounds.

Singh suffered multiple gunshot wounds, including injuries to his arm and torso, and collapsed inside his vehicle. Eyewitnesses reported that he slumped over the driver's seat immediately after the attack. His associates rushed him to the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGI), but he tragically succumbed to his injuries en route.

The motive behind this brutal killing remains unclear, but police are investigating potential links to personal or business disputes.

Earlier, on Tuesday night, a separate incident occurred at Panjab University where assailants fired shots into the air and threatened a former student leader. This incident is believed to be gang-related, with the attackers fleeing the scene after stealing a motorcycle at gunpoint.

In response to the Tuesday shooting, multiple police teams and forensic experts were deployed to the university. CCTV footage captured four suspects fleeing the area, prompting an extensive search operation.

Following the incident, gangster Doni Bal and his associate Shaganpreet, associated with the Bambiha gang, reportedly took to social media to claim responsibility for targeting the student leader and issued threats against anyone who might join the rival group.
