Bridegroom Arrested After Shooting Incident in Ghazipur
Incident Overview
Ghazipur News: A recent incident in Ghazipur district, Uttar Pradesh, has turned a joyous occasion into a scene of mourning and police intervention. A groom, frustrated over the unavailability of a generator, shot at the son of a tent operator with his licensed pistol. The groom, who was supposed to celebrate his wedding on April 20, now finds himself behind bars.
The incident occurred in Devdhi village of the Zamania tehsil. The groom, Veer Bahadur, was set to marry at the Maa Mundeshwari temple in Bihar on April 20. As preparations were underway, he needed a generator on the evening of April 17 and approached Imamuddin, a local tent vendor.
Reports indicate that Veer Bahadur had an outstanding debt with Imamuddin, who refused to lend him the generator. Feeling insulted, the groom began to verbally abuse the vendor.
Escalation of Conflict
As the argument intensified, Imamuddin's son, Dilnawaz, intervened. In a fit of rage, Veer Bahadur drew his licensed pistol and fired, hitting Dilnawaz in the hand, causing him to collapse. After the shooting, the groom fled the scene, abandoning his motorcycle. The police acted swiftly, apprehending Veer Bahadur and sending him to jail. His haldi ceremony, scheduled for Saturday, was overshadowed by silence instead of celebratory songs.

Medical Negligence and Outcry
Following the shooting, Dilnawaz's family rushed him to Ghazipur Medical College around 2 AM. They alleged that the doctors delayed treatment until noon the next day, causing frustration. It was only after Dilnawaz's mother created a scene in the hospital that the administration took action, transferring him to the BHU trauma center in Varanasi for better care.
License Revocation Process
It has come to light that Veer Bahadur was granted a firearm license for his protection after his father's murder. However, this violent act before his wedding has now turned him into a criminal. The district administration is initiating the process to revoke his weapon license.
