Bride Elopes with Priest Instead of Groom: A Shocking Tale
The Unusual Elopement
Elopements, whether before or after a wedding, are no longer confined to the realm of cinema. Many have encountered stories where brides flee on their wedding day or shortly thereafter. Typically, such actions stem from two main reasons: dissatisfaction with an arranged marriage or an existing relationship with someone else. However, have you ever heard of a bride running away with the very priest officiating her wedding? This unusual scenario is indeed true. In a surprising incident from Toribargod in Sironj, Madhya Pradesh, a 21-year-old woman named Sushma (name changed) eloped with the priest who was supposed to conduct her marriage.
Details of the Elopement
On May 7, Sushma was married to a man from Ashta village, with Vinod Maharaj, a local priest, officiating the ceremony. After performing the rituals, Sushma went to her in-laws' house. Just three days later, she returned to her parental home. Meanwhile, another wedding was scheduled for May 23, which Vinod was also set to officiate. However, he failed to show up that night, prompting a search that yielded no results. At the same time, Sushma was also missing, leading the family to file a police report.
The Priest's Background
The priest who married Sushma on May 7 was the same one she eloped with on May 23. This revelation might come as a shock, but it gets even more surprising. The priest, Vinod, is already married and has two children. His wife was aware of his affair with Sushma, which explains why both Vinod and his family went missing after the elopement.
The Stolen Jewelry and Cash
The story doesn't end there. When Sushma fled, she took with her jewelry worth approximately 1.5 lakh and cash amounting to 30,000 rupees. This incident has left the villagers astonished, as such occurrences are unheard of in their community. Many are now joking on social media, suggesting that single men might consider becoming priests to avoid similar situations.
