A shocking incident has emerged from the Jagdishpura area of Agra, shaking the foundations of marital relationships and social norms. A newlywed bride made an outrageous demand of ₹90 lakhs from her husband on their wedding night.

The case involves a woman doctor’s brother who recently married a girl from Hathras. Upon arriving at her in-laws' house, the bride stunned her husband by stating that she was not interested in the marriage and was only there for the money. She insisted that she would only proceed with their marital life if she received ₹90 lakhs in cash, saying, 'I want ₹90 lakhs on my wedding night. Only then will I consummate the marriage.' This left the groom in a state of shock.

Attempt to Harm In-Laws

When the husband and his family expressed their inability to meet such a hefty demand, a dispute ensued. It is alleged that the bride called her family for support, who then arrived with goons, locked the house, and took the entire family hostage. The situation escalated when the accused broke the PNG gas pipeline in the house, intending to cause a gas leak and set the house ablaze, attempting to harm the in-laws.

Escape with Valuables

The victimized family managed to raise an alarm, attracting the attention of neighbors who helped them escape. During the chaos, the bride allegedly gathered her mother-in-law's valuable jewelry and other belongings and fled with her family.

Police Action Following Court Order

The victim's family claims that the Jagdishpura police initially ignored their complaint. Eventually, the victimized doctor sought legal recourse. Following a strict court order, the police have now filed serious charges against the bride, her father, and other accomplices. However, the police are also viewing this case through the lens of the Dowry Act's provisions.
