Condemnation of the Pahalgam Terror Attack

New Delhi, July 7: Following the tragic terror attack in Pahalgam on April 22 that resulted in 26 fatalities, leaders from BRICS have expressed their strong condemnation. NCP-SCP MLA Rohit Rajendra Pawar supported the resolution, labeling the incident as "a murder of humanity" and underscoring the collective duty to combat terrorism in all its manifestations.

Rohit Pawar stated, “This is indeed a murder of humanity. Every time a citizen falls victim to terrorism, it is an assault on humanity itself. There is no justification for terrorism in any form. The recent attack in India was unequivocally an attack on humanity.”

The assault, attributed to the Pakistan-backed terror organization The Resistance Front (TRF), has drawn widespread condemnation from political figures, including those at the BRICS summit in Rio de Janeiro, who reiterated their global stance against terrorism.

In contrast, Congress leader Manoj Kumar expressed his dissatisfaction with the response to the situation during India's counter-terrorism operations, alleging foreign interference in negotiations with Pakistan.

“The world has condemned this act. However, I must ask: when our military was poised to decisively eliminate these terrorists, why was there a halt?” he questioned.

“Who issued the order to stop? Why did Trump tweet and pressure the operation to pause? It is disgraceful to see Pakistan, the epicenter of terrorism, chairing the UN Security Council. This is not how a sovereign nation should function. It feels as though Trump is in control, not our Prime Minister. The Pahalgam attack was horrific, and those responsible will not be forgiven by the world.”

The Rio de Janeiro Declaration, ratified by BRICS leaders, firmly denounced the Pahalgam terror attack and reaffirmed their dedication to fighting cross-border terrorism, its funding, and safe havens.

“We condemn in the strongest terms the terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir on April 22, 2025... We reaffirm our commitment to combating terrorism in all its forms, including the cross-border movement of terrorists, financing of terrorism, and safe havens,” stated Paragraph 34 of the declaration.

BRICS leaders also highlighted that terrorism should not be associated with any religion, ethnicity, or nationality, and called for accountability for all perpetrators and their supporters under international law.
