Brazil Kicks Off World Cup 2026 with a Strong Win

Brazil launched their FIFA World Cup 2026 journey with an impressive 3-0 victory against Haiti in Philadelphia, securing the top position in Group C and eliminating Haiti's chances of advancing to the knockout rounds.

Following a disappointing 1-1 draw against Morocco in their first match, coach Carlo Ancelotti's team faced pressure to perform. Haiti, on the other hand, entered the game with optimism after a spirited performance against Scotland, despite their loss.

Brazil's Dominance in the First Half

From the beginning, Brazil displayed their offensive prowess and thought they had scored early when Raphinha netted a goal from a clever pass by Bruno Guimaraes, only for the goal to be disallowed due to offside.

The first goal came midway through the first half when Vinicius Junior's powerful shot was saved by goalkeeper Johny Placide, but Matheus Cunha was quick to capitalize on the rebound, pushing the ball over the line despite the Haitian defense's efforts.

Cunha soon doubled Brazil's lead with a precise finish, receiving a perfectly timed pass from Vinicius and firing the ball into the roof of the net, leaving Placide with no chance.

Vinicius then scored a third goal before halftime, taking advantage of Haiti's high defensive line to sprint through and calmly slot a low shot past Placide.

The only downside for Brazil in the first half was Raphinha's injury, which forced him to leave the match.

Haiti Shows Improvement in the Second Half

After halftime, Haiti displayed more attacking intent and nearly found a way back into the game. Defender Ricardo Ade came close with a glancing header from a corner that required a quick save from Alisson Becker.

Although Brazil created fewer opportunities in the second half, they maintained control and thought they had scored a fourth goal through Endrick, which was ultimately disallowed for offside.

Brazil Leads Group C

This victory places Brazil at four points from two matches, tied with Morocco but ahead on goal difference, positioning them well for a spot in the Round of 32. They will face Scotland in their final group match, while Haiti's elimination was confirmed despite their improved performance in the second half.
