Brave Doctors Rescue Pregnant Woman Amid Flood Crisis in Rajnagar
Heroic Acts in the Face of Adversity
In Rajnagar, as the Brahmani River experiences a second wave of flooding, two dedicated doctors emerged as heroes by rescuing a pregnant woman in labor. They bravely navigated through waist-deep floodwaters to ensure her safety.
Local residents have praised the doctors for their courageous and selfless actions during this crisis.
The flooding has severely impacted three panchayats in the Rajnagar block of Kendrapara district, affecting approximately 20,000 individuals.
With no boat services provided by local authorities, Dr. Rashmi Ranjan Mohanty, the chief medical officer at Rajnagar Community Health Centre (CHC), and his colleague, Dr. Manoranjan Nath, made their way to Chakibanka village in Bandhapada panchayat on foot.
Equipped with umbrellas and sticks, and dressed in traditional napkins (gamuchhas), they trekked about a kilometer through the floodwaters to reach Sanghamitra Rout, the wife of Prasanna Kumar Rout.
After evaluating her condition, the doctors coordinated with villagers to arrange a trolley rickshaw to transport her from Chakibanka village to Adhajodi, which is about one kilometer away.
Once they arrived at Adhajodi, an ambulance was ready to take her to Rajnagar CHC for urgent medical attention and delivery.
The bravery displayed by these doctors has garnered widespread admiration from the community.
In another instance, Ritanjali Rout, the wife of Prabhat Rout from Tangantela village, was also rescued from a flood-affected area and admitted to the CHC.
