Boxing Federation of India Focuses on Olympic Aspirations in Strategic Meeting
BFI Units Convene for Olympic Strategy Session
A significant gathering took place as 21 out of the 35 authorized state units of the Boxing Federation of India (BFI) convened for a two-day 'Mission Olympic Podium' meeting. This assembly aimed to unite the majority of state units around the Olympic goals of Indian boxing, emphasizing an athlete-centric approach. Among the attendees, 18 representatives were present physically, while three participated via video link. Notably, the ad hoc committees from Mizoram and Jharkhand were involved, along with a player representative from the BFI Athletes committee.
Emphasis on Athlete Growth and Organizational Stability
This meeting occurs amidst ongoing issues surrounding the suspended Secretary General, Pramod Kumar. The focus was on enhancing the Federation's sports programs and improving collaboration with state units. Ajay Singh, President of BFI, stated, "Our primary duty is to the boxers and their future. The involvement of most authorized state units reflects their dedication to collaborating as a federation to achieve our Olympic goals, prioritizing athletes in this journey. Our efforts must begin at the state level—spotting talent, aiding coaches, and establishing a clear pathway for boxers to advance, gain competitive experience, and represent India. We need to create a system that consistently prepares our boxers for success at the highest levels."
Enhancing Collaboration for Future Achievements
The two-day event served as a platform for state representatives to engage in discussions about the 'Mission Olympic Podium' initiative, with insights from athletes shaping the dialogue. The BFI reiterated its commitment to ensuring institutional stability, enhancing coordination with state units, and keeping the development and preparation of boxers at the forefront of its initiatives.
