Upcoming BFI Elections Announced

New Delhi: The eagerly anticipated elections for the Boxing Federation of India (BFI) are scheduled for August 21, as announced by the Interim Committee managing the federation's daily operations.

According to a notice from Interim Committee chairman Ajay Singh, the Annual General Meeting (AGM) will commence at 11:00 AM, during which elections for several important positions for the 2025–2029 term will take place. Member states and Union Territories are required to submit the names of two representatives by 5:00 PM on the preceding Monday.

The circular stated, “This is to inform you that the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Boxing Federation of India will be held on 21.08.2025 at Delhi-NCR at 11:00 AM. Member States/UT Associations are requested to send names of their two representatives as per the provisions of BFI’s Constitution as approved by World Boxing to BFI’s office email before 5 PM on 04.08.2025.”

The agenda will also cover the approval of minutes from the last AGM and other relevant discussions, pending the Chair's consent.

Originally set for March 28, the BFI elections faced delays due to legal disputes, leading World Boxing to appoint a six-member Interim Committee, led by Ajay Singh, on April 7 to manage the federation's affairs and address outstanding issues.

This committee was established for a maximum of 90 days, but its term has been extended with a renewed mandate to ensure elections are conducted by August 31, in accordance with World Boxing’s timeline.

Additionally, the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) formed a three-member committee on July 11, headed by IOA Treasurer Sahdev Yadav, along with Bhupender Singh Bajwa and Advocate Payal Kakra, to investigate the delays in BFI elections and propose a strategy for conducting them fairly and promptly.
