Box Office Clash: Raja Shivaji vs Ek Din Opening Day Collections

Box Office Showdown on Maharashtra Day

On the first day of May, two films faced off at the box office. Ritesh Deshmukh's historical drama 'Raja Shivaji' premiered in theaters on Maharashtra Day, while Aamir Khan's produced film 'Ek Din', featuring Junaid Khan and Sai Pallavi, also made its debut. The opening day collections for both films have now been revealed.


Raja Shivaji's Impressive Opening Day Earnings

According to trade tracker Sacnilk, 'Raja Shivaji' garnered an impressive ₹11.35 crores on its opening day across Hindi and Marathi versions. The film was screened in approximately 6000 shows, with 1900 in Marathi showing a 68% occupancy and 4200 in Hindi achieving around 16% occupancy. Mumbai recorded the highest occupancy for the Marathi shows at about 73%, while Delhi NCR had around 400 Hindi shows with a 13% occupancy rate.


Star-Studded Cast of Raja Shivaji

Produced by Jio Studios and Mumbai Film Company, 'Raja Shivaji' features a star-studded cast including Ritesh Deshmukh, Sanjay Dutt, Abhishek Bachchan, Vidya Balan, Mahesh Manjrekar, Sachin Khedekar, Bhagyashree, Fardeen Khan, Jitendra Joshi, Boman Irani, Amol Gupte, and Genelia Deshmukh. Notably, superstar Salman Khan makes a cameo appearance, which has generated significant buzz on social media.


Ek Din's Opening Day Performance

In the romantic drama 'Ek Din', the chemistry between Junaid Khan and Sai Pallavi was on display. As per Sacnilk, the film managed to collect only ₹1 crore from 1710 shows on its opening day, with a total gross collection of ₹1.20 crores in India. This marks Junaid's third film following 'Maharaj' and 'Lavyapa', with 'Maharaj' being released on Netflix and 'Lavyapa' not performing well at the box office. It remains to be seen how 'Ek Din' will fare over the weekend.
