Bomb Threats Prompt Security Alert in Gurugram and Punjab

Authorities reported that the Gurugram Municipal Corporation headquarters and the mayor's office located in Sector 34 received bomb threats on Thursday. Following the alarming notification, police initiated a search operation to locate any suspicious items or explosives within the premises. In response to the threatening email, law enforcement and security agencies heightened their alertness, dispatching security personnel, search teams, and bomb disposal units to the municipal office in Sector 34.

As a precautionary measure, the entire government complex was evacuated, ensuring the safety of employees and citizens. A senior police official stated that the threat was communicated via email, specifically targeting the municipal corporation and the mayor's office. According to police reports, the threat was attributed to a pro-Khalistan group, which allegedly stated, "We will turn Haryana into Khalistan. We will take revenge for the Darbar Sahib." This threatening email arrived just two days before the anniversary of Operation Blue Star, which involved the military action to expel terrorists from the Golden Temple in June 1984.

This morning, an email threatening to bomb five major temples in Punjab triggered a security alert. Officials indicated that the email also contained threats against several government establishments. This alarming message coincided with the anniversary of Operation Blue Star, referencing the controversial military operation from June 1984 and included inflammatory remarks. Police in Jalandhar conducted checks at the Devi Talab Temple but found no suspicious items or explosive materials. While this threat appears to be a hoax aimed at instilling fear, authorities are not taking any chances and have increased security measures. Cyber teams are currently investigating the source of the email, and further inquiries are ongoing.
