Evacuation of Students Following Bomb Threats

On Wednesday morning, students from two colleges in Delhi University, Deshbandhu College and Ramjas College, were evacuated after receiving bomb threat emails. Both police and bomb disposal units arrived at the campuses to conduct thorough investigations, as confirmed by officials. Students reported a chaotic scene as security personnel rushed to clear the premises. Shivang Chandra, a second-year student from Deshbandhu College, recounted hearing police shouting just after his practical exam had concluded.

Witnesses noted that within minutes, security guards began blowing whistles and ushering everyone outside. Initially, the situation was unclear, but an official announcement soon clarified that both colleges had received threatening emails. Consequently, practical exams were canceled, and students were instructed to leave immediately. Another student, Keshav, mentioned he was preparing for his practical exam when the alert spread.

Keshav expressed that they had been informed of a bomb threat on campus, leading to an atmosphere of fear and panic among the crowd. Neha, a third-year BA student, shared that the college received the threat in the morning. "After 10 AM, entry was restricted, and by 10:30 AM, they began evacuating students. Following the recent bomb blast incident in Delhi, anxiety has escalated. It feels like anything could happen at any moment."

The Delhi police confirmed that both institutions received the threatening emails around the same time. Multiple police teams, equipped with bomb disposal units and sniffer dogs, were deployed to the scene. Officials reported that no suspicious items had been found during the search so far, and investigations are ongoing. Last month, a bomb threat was also reported at a private school in Chanakyapuri, which was later deemed a hoax after thorough police investigation.
