Bomb Threat Prompts Emergency Response at Patna Airport

An Indigo flight from Ahmedabad to Patna faced a bomb threat, prompting a rapid emergency response at Jay Prakash Narayan International Airport. All 192 passengers were safely evacuated, and the aircraft underwent a thorough security inspection. The threat was communicated via a WhatsApp message to the station manager, leading to immediate action by security forces. Authorities are now investigating the incident in accordance with standard procedures. This event follows a similar bomb threat at a busy station, highlighting ongoing security concerns.
 

Emergency Landing and Security Measures

Authorities reported that an Indigo flight (6E 921) traveling from Ahmedabad to Patna received a bomb threat, leading to a thorough security operation at Jay Prakash Narayan International Airport (JPNI) around 1 PM on Wednesday. Approximately 40 minutes after landing, all 192 passengers were safely evacuated, and the aircraft was moved to an isolation bay at Patna Airport.


Passenger Evacuation and Investigation

Following the incident, the aircraft was relocated to bay number 1, where passengers were allowed to disembark. Upon receiving the threat, the plane was parked in a secure area for a complete safety inspection, ensuring the safe exit of all passengers.


Details of the Bomb Threat

Notably, the bomb threat was communicated via a WhatsApp message to Indigo's station manager, Shalini, after the flight's arrival in Patna. The message, which included the word 'bomb' written on a tissue napkin, triggered an immediate alert to the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF).


Coordination Among Authorities

Airport officials, security personnel, district administration, and police convened to assess the bomb threat. Following notification from the Airports Authority of India (AAI), investigations are being conducted in accordance with standard operating procedures for such incidents.


Previous Bomb Threat Incident

On Sunday, an anonymous caller claimed that a bomb had been placed at a busy station, causing panic. The Jammu police and railway police acted swiftly, deploying security forces with sniffer dogs and metal detectors for a comprehensive search, but no suspicious items were found.
