Bomb Threat Emails Cause Panic in Chandigarh Schools
Panic Erupts in Chandigarh Schools Due to Bomb Threats
This morning, several prominent schools in Chandigarh received bomb threat emails, leading to widespread alarm across the educational institutions. Upon receiving the threats, police and security agencies promptly entered alert mode, initiating extensive search operations at the affected schools. Notably, just earlier this week, three private schools in the city had also received similar threatening emails, prompting anti-sabotage investigations. However, like previous incidents, no suspicious items were found following thorough searches at the schools.
Immediate Action Taken by School Administration
Upon receiving the threatening emails, school authorities quickly notified the police. Local police teams, along with bomb disposal and anti-sabotage units, swiftly arrived at the school premises.
Precautionary Measures and Traffic Disruptions
During the search operations, schools were evacuated as a precaution, and the areas surrounding them were cordoned off. The news of the threats prompted many parents to rush to the schools from their workplaces and homes, resulting in significant traffic congestion outside the institutions.
No Suspicious Findings During Searches
The police reported that nothing suspicious was discovered during the searches. They also mentioned that the cyber cell is working to trace the source of the emails. This marks the fifth instance in the past five months where schools in the city have received false bomb threats via email, with similar threats reported on January 8, January 14, March 11, and April 23. In recent weeks, several institutions in Punjab and Haryana have also received similar threats, all of which were later proven to be false.
