Bomb Threat Disrupts Indigo Flight at Bengaluru Airport
Bomb Threat at Kempegowda International Airport
A significant scare occurred at Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) in Bengaluru when a written bomb threat was discovered on an Indigo flight bound for Ahmedabad. Following a thorough investigation, authorities confirmed that the threat was a hoax. On Friday, the airport police in Bengaluru registered a First Information Report (FIR) against an unidentified individual in connection with this incident.
According to information from police and aviation officials, Indigo flight 6E-6423 was scheduled to depart from Bengaluru to Ahmedabad on the night of July 16 at 8:00 PM. Just 25 minutes before the planned departure, around 7:35 PM, a crew member found a note in the aircraft's front restroom. The note, handwritten, read, 'Don't go. There is a bomb, please.'
Upon discovering the note, immediate action was taken in accordance with aviation security standard operating procedures (SOP), leading to a comprehensive search of the aircraft. However, no suspicious items were found during the inspection. Indigo Airlines reported to the KIA police that the threat disrupted flight operations and raised serious concerns regarding the safety of passengers, crew, and the airline.
The airline's complaint requested a thorough investigation to identify the individual responsible for the threat and to take appropriate legal action against them. A senior police officer indicated that an FIR had been filed based on the complaint, and efforts are underway to identify the person behind the threat and understand their motives.
