Bomb Threat at Bombay Stock Exchange Triggers Security Alert
Bomb Threat Received by BSE
Mumbai, July 15: The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), located in South Mumbai, was the target of a bomb threat communicated through an email on Tuesday, prompting an immediate response from law enforcement.
According to police reports, the threatening email was sent to the BSE's official website.
The email originated from an account named "Comrade Pinayari Vijayan," which demanded urgent security measures.
"Four RDX IED bombs have been placed in the BSE's Feroze Tower Building, and they will detonate at 3 pm," stated the alarming message.
Within moments of the threat being reported, the Mumbai Police and bomb disposal squad arrived at the scene to conduct a thorough search.
A case has been registered at the Mata Ramabai Marg Police Station under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Samhita (BNS).
After a comprehensive investigation, authorities confirmed that the email was a hoax as no explosives were found.
Efforts are ongoing to trace the sender of the threatening email.
In a related incident, three schools in the national capital also received bomb threats on Monday, which were later deemed false after security checks revealed no suspicious activity.
Additionally, the Golden Temple in Amritsar faced a bomb threat on the same day, leading to swift security measures by local forces.
The Shiromani Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee (SGPC) has filed a complaint regarding this threat.
The email specifically threatened to detonate explosives at Darbar Sahib, the community kitchen hall of the Golden Temple.
In response to the threat, Amritsar MP Gurjeet Singh Aujla expressed his concerns on social media, stating, "An email has been received threatening to blow up Sri Harmandir Sahib (Golden Temple) with RDX. This is not just a threat to a religious site – it’s an attack on peace, faith & humanity."
