Imphal, April 5: A bomb explosion near the Teachers’ Quarters at Manipur University on Saturday evening sent shockwaves through the campus, reigniting security concerns at this key educational institution.


The blast occurred around 7:30 PM at Quarter No. 8 within the university grounds. Fortunately, officials reported no injuries or property damage despite the explosion's severity.


In response to the incident, a forensic team and officers from Singjamei Police Station arrived promptly to investigate. The area was secured to ensure safety and to gather evidence.


The unexpected explosion caused panic among students, many of whom evacuated their hostels and nearby residences. Authorities acted quickly to close the campus gates and control access.


“A significant number of students exited after hearing the blast, but the gates were locked, and movement was tightly monitored. No one could enter or leave without proper verification,” shared Chaothoi, a Master’s student.


As of now, police have not released an official statement regarding the type of explosive used or the motive behind the attack. Investigations are ongoing.
