Following a resounding victory in the urban local body elections, Jai Ram Thakur, the former Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh and current Leader of Opposition, proclaimed on Sunday that the results signify a clear rejection of the Congress-led state government and a robust endorsement of the BJP's leadership and policies.

Speaking at a large victory rally at Mandi's historic Seri Manch, Thakur emphasized that the electorate has once again placed their trust in the BJP, sending a strong political message to the ruling Congress party.

"The residents of Mandi have responded decisively to those who doubted my assertion that Mandi is, and will always be, a BJP stronghold. The bond between Mandi and the BJP is rooted in decades of trust, and this mandate has further solidified that connection," he stated.

The BJP achieved a significant majority in the Mandi Municipal Corporation, successfully retaining control of the civic body for a second consecutive term, thereby reinforcing its position in what is considered one of its strongest political bases in Himachal Pradesh.

Targeting the Congress government directly, Thakur remarked that the election results have unveiled what he described as the ruling party's "false narrative." He pointed out that, unlike previous local elections, this municipal poll was contested directly under party symbols, making the outcome a clear political evaluation of both parties.

"The Congress leadership made grand claims and mobilized its entire political machinery in Mandi. However, the electorate decisively rejected its approach and endorsed the BJP's vision, leadership, and organizational strength," he added.

In a subsequent press conference, Thakur highlighted the BJP's overall performance across the state, noting that the party had won in three out of four municipal corporations in Himachal Pradesh.

"The BJP has successfully secured victories in three of the four municipal corporations. This achievement is a testament to the relentless efforts of our workers and the support of the people," he remarked.

Thakur also asserted that the recent Panchayati Raj elections reflected strong public backing for the BJP, with a majority of elected representatives across various local governance levels aligning with the party's ideology and development agenda.

He claimed that the combined results of the municipal corporation, panchayat, and local body elections indicate a growing public dissatisfaction with the Sukhu government.

"The mandate from both urban and rural areas of Himachal is a clear message against the current state government. Citizens feel let down by unfulfilled promises, misleading assurances, and ineffective governance," he alleged.

Escalating his criticism, the Leader of Opposition accused the Congress of attempting to manipulate the electoral process through inducements and political pressure. He claimed that efforts were made to sway voters and influence elected representatives, but ultimately, the electorate rejected such tactics.

"The people of Himachal have shown that they cannot be influenced by political inducements or government pressure. They have voted independently, sending a strong message in favor of accountability and good governance," he stated.

Thakur characterized the BJP's success as a triumph of development, transparent governance, and public trust in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership. He expressed confidence that the party would maintain its strong performance in the ongoing Zila Parishad and Block Development Committee (BDC) elections.

In a politically charged conclusion to his address, Thakur asserted that the municipal election results mark the beginning of a significant political shift in the state.

"This outcome reflects the changing political sentiment in Himachal Pradesh. The populace is beginning to hold the government accountable, and this trend will become increasingly evident in the coming years," he concluded.

The victory rally and subsequent press conference were attended by several senior BJP leaders, including Mandi MLA Anil Sharma, Balh MLA Inder Singh Gandhi, Dharampur MLA Purna Chand, BJP State General Secretary Payal Vaidya, State Spokesperson Ajay Rana, and District BJP President Nihal Chand Sharma, all of whom hailed the results as a pivotal political milestone for the party in Himachal Pradesh.
