BJP's Taapsee Roy Claims TMC's Political Relevance is Dwindling

In a recent statement, BJP's Taapsee Roy criticized the Trinamool Congress, claiming its political relevance is diminishing following the BJP's electoral success in West Bengal. Other BJP leaders echoed this sentiment, emphasizing a clear public mandate for change. Suvendu Adhikari has been elected as the leader of the BJP legislative party, marking a significant shift in the state's political landscape. The BJP aims to prioritize national interests and uphold its organizational strength as it prepares to govern the state. This article delves into the implications of these developments for West Bengal's political future.

BJP Legislator Critiques TMC's Future

BJP's newly elected legislator Taapsee Roy launched a fierce critique against the Trinamool Congress (TMC) on Friday, asserting that following the BJP's impressive victory in the state assembly elections, the TMC's political significance is fading. Speaking in Kolkata, Roy stated, 'This party (TMC) is already finished. It will no longer exist, and there should be no party that stands against the nation, against West Bengal, that supports jihadists, that labels Hinduism as a dirty religion, and that orchestrates the killing of Hindus. Such a party should not remain in Bengal.'

Public Mandate for Change

BJP's newly elected member Jagannath Chattopadhyay emphasized that the public has delivered a clear mandate for a change in governance. He remarked that the people of Bengal have sent a strong message, granting us a complete mandate based on which we will govern the state.

Acknowledgment of Party Leadership

Dipanjan Chakraborty, the BJP candidate from Uttarpara, credited the party leadership for their electoral performance. He stated that the credit goes to the BJP, the Prime Minister, the Home Minister, and leader Suvendu Adhikari, as well as the people of Bengal. 'Our top priority is the nation, and we will not compromise on that,' he asserted. Newly elected BJP legislator Hiran Chatterjee also attributed this victory to the collective support of the party, declaring that this win belongs to the people of Bengal. 'My contribution is merely 1% from where I was elected. Our party is the largest organizational party in the world.'

Suvendu Adhikari Elected as BJP Legislative Leader

Meanwhile, BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari was elected as the leader of the BJP legislative party in West Bengal on Friday, paving the way for him to potentially become the state's first BJP Chief Minister. Central Home Minister Amit Shah made this announcement after a party meeting in Kolkata, stating, 'I announce the name of Suvendu Adhikari as the leader of the West Bengal BJP legislative party.' Adhikari is set to take the oath of office on the occasion of Rabindranath Tagore's birth anniversary. He met with the newly elected BJP legislators in Kolkata and defeated outgoing Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee by over 15,000 votes in Bhawanipur.
