BJP's Stance on TMC Leaders: No Room for Controversial Figures
BJP's Firm Position Against TMC Leaders
On Tuesday, Samik Bhattacharya, the president of the BJP in West Bengal, stated that the party will not be incorporating any leaders from the Trinamool Congress (TMC). He emphasized that the BJP has built its foundation from the grassroots level and will not welcome individuals with questionable backgrounds. Bhattacharya firmly asserted that the BJP will never undergo a 'TMC-ification'.
In an interview, he mentioned, "Our doors are closed to TMC. We secured 207 seats without bringing in any external leaders. The public voted against TMC leaders. Our political strategy this time has started from the ground up. How can we include tainted individuals in our party? The BJP will never become like TMC."
Criticism of Mamata Banerjee's Protests
Bhattacharya criticized former Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's upcoming protests in Kolkata, claiming that the TMC is turning against itself. He pointed out that the people of West Bengal have rejected the party, indicating that their time is over. He stated, "The people of West Bengal will not allow Mamata Banerjee to protest. TMC is not in a position to face the public on the streets."
He further remarked on Banerjee's recent court appearances, saying, "Everyone knows what happened when she went to court. Now, TMC is against itself. Mamata Banerjee is merely trying to distract attention by talking about Delhi. She can go to Delhi, Antarctica, or the desert; it doesn't matter. The people of West Bengal have rejected TMC. The game is over."
Upcoming Protests by TMC
On Tuesday afternoon, Mamata Banerjee is set to lead a protest on Rani Rashmoni Road in Kolkata against alleged post-election violence targeting party leaders. This demonstration follows attacks on TMC leaders Abhishek Banerjee and Kalyan Banerjee during their visits to South 24 Parganas and Hooghly.
Abhishek Banerjee has claimed that he was attacked with bricks, stones, and eggs, resulting in an injury to his eye, while Kalyan Banerjee reported a near-fatal attack near the Chanditala police station.
