BJP Announces New Candidates for Upcoming Elections

On Tuesday, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) released its fourth list of candidates for the 2026 West Bengal Assembly elections, featuring the name of Soma Thakur, wife of Union Minister Shantanu Thakur, who will contest from the Bagda seat in North 24 Parganas. With this announcement, the BJP has now declared a total of 287 candidates for the elections, which will take place in two phases.

Additionally, the party has made a change in its candidate for the Manikgudi constituency, replacing Kaushik Roy with Dalim Roy. Other candidates include Shyamalal Hati from Howrah South, Girija Shankar Roy from Natabari, and Ashutosh Burman from Sitai. Uttam Kumar Banik will contest from Magrahat Purba, Debangshu Panda from Falta, Debashish Dhar from Sonarpur North, and Ranjan Kumar Paul from Panchla.
