BJP Set to Elect New National President: Who Will Take the Helm?
BJP Announces Election Schedule for National President
New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has unveiled the timeline for electing its new national president, with nominations set to be submitted on January 19. The announcement of the new leader will follow the next day.
As per the election schedule shared by K Laxman, the national returning officer for the BJP, candidates can file their nominations between 2 PM and 4 PM on January 19. They will also have the opportunity to withdraw their nominations from 5 PM to 6 PM on the same day.
The verification of the nomination papers will take place from 4 PM to 5 PM on January 19, according to the notification from Laxman, who is also a member of the Rajya Sabha.
If necessary, voting will occur on January 20, with the official declaration of the newly elected BJP national president expected on the same day, Laxman confirmed.
The entire election process will be conducted at the party's headquarters.
Sources within the party suggest that Nitin Nabin, the current national working president, is poised to be elected unopposed, as it appears unlikely that any other leaders will contest.
Nabin is anticipated to succeed J P Nadda as the party president, with strong support from the party's senior leadership, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah.
