BJP Secures Seven Seats in Delhi MCD By-Elections
Election Results Overview
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has successfully won seven out of twelve wards in the recent by-elections for the Delhi Municipal Corporation (MCD). The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) managed to secure three seats, while both the Congress and the Left Party each won one seat.
Among the twelve wards that held voting on November 30, nine were previously held by the BJP, and the remaining three were under the AAP's control. The voter turnout for this election was recorded at 38.51%, a decrease from the 50.47% seen in the 2022 MCD elections.
According to a statement from the State Election Commission, ten counting centers were established in areas including Kanjhawala, Pitampura, Bharat Nagar, Civil Lines, Rouse Avenue, Dwarka, Najafgarh, Gol Market, Pushp Vihar, and Mandawali.
Details of BJP's Wins
The BJP's victories came in the following wards: Dwarka B, Vinod Nagar, Ashok Vihar, Greater Kailash, Dichaon Kalan, Shalimar Bagh B, and Chandni Chowk. However, the party faced losses in Sangam Vihar A and Naraina wards, which they had won in the 2022 MCD elections.
Performance of Other Parties
The Aam Aadmi Party claimed three wards: Naraina, Mundka, and South Puri. The Congress party won the Sangam Vihar A ward, while Mohammad Imran from the AIFB secured victory in the Chandni Mahal ward.
Counting Process and Candidate Participation
The counting of votes for the MCD by-elections commenced at 8 AM. This election was viewed as a significant test for the ruling BJP, as well as for the AAP and Congress. A total of 51 candidates, including 26 women, contested in these elections.

2022 MCD Election Recap
In the 2022 Delhi Municipal Corporation elections, the Aam Aadmi Party won 134 seats with 42.05% of the votes, totaling 3,084,957 votes. The BJP secured 104 seats with a 39.09% vote share, amounting to 2,867,472 votes in the capital.
