BJP Restructures Leadership in Four States with New Appointments
BJP Announces New State Presidents
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has made significant changes to its organizational structure by appointing new state presidents for Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, and Tripura. These appointments, announced under the leadership of national president Nitin Naveen, are effective immediately. Harsh Malhotra, a Union Minister and Member of Parliament from East Delhi, has been appointed to lead the Delhi unit. Previously, Virendra Sachdeva held this position. The party aims to strengthen its organization in the capital through this transition. Virendra Sachdeva officially handed over the responsibilities to Harsh Malhotra at the BJP headquarters in Delhi, with the presence of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, state cabinet members, MPs, MLAs, and other officials.
Harsh Malhotra's Vision for Delhi
During the handover, Harsh Malhotra expressed his gratitude, stating, "I feel fortunate to have received blessings from the state presidents under whose guidance I have learned. The BJP returned to power in Delhi after 27 years, with Rekha Gupta as our Chief Minister, thanks to the hard work of thousands of party workers and the leadership of Virendra Sachdeva." He acknowledged the significant responsibility bestowed upon him by the national leadership, including the Prime Minister and Home Minister, and pledged to contribute to the government's efforts for the people of Delhi.
Historic Appointment in Haryana
In Haryana, Dr. Archana Gupta has been appointed as the new state president. A medical professional and previously the state BJP's general secretary, her appointment is considered historic as she becomes the second female president in nearly four decades, following Kamla Verma, who served from 1980 to 1983. Originally from Panipat, Archana Gupta has held several key positions within the organization, including district president.
Commitment to Women's Empowerment
After her appointment, Archana Gupta expressed her gratitude to the party leadership and committed to fulfilling her responsibilities with dedication and service. She emphasized her resolve to strengthen the BJP, enhance women's participation, and work towards their empowerment. Additionally, she accused the Congress and other opposition parties of betraying women regarding the women's reservation issue.
Leadership Change in Punjab
In Punjab, the BJP has appointed Sardar Keval Singh Dhillon as the new state president. At 76, Dhillon is a former Congress leader and ex-MLA from Barnala, who joined the BJP in 2022 and is considered close to former Chief Minister Amarinder Singh. His appointment comes at a crucial time as the party focuses on strengthening its organizational presence in Punjab.
Dhillon's Ambitious Goals
Following his appointment, Keval Singh Dhillon asserted that the BJP would form the government in Punjab after the 2027 assembly elections. He criticized the Bhagwant Mann government for failing to fulfill promises made to the public and claimed that the state is under a reign of terror. Dhillon stated that the BJP aims to make Punjab a leading state in all sectors and praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the country's rapid progress.
New Leadership in Tripura
In Tripura, BJP MLA Abhishek Debroy has been appointed as the president of the state unit. He won the Matabari seat in the 2023 assembly elections. The party leadership is optimistic that under his guidance, the organization in Tripura will become stronger. These organizational changes across four states are seen as crucial steps in the BJP's electoral strategy and expansion efforts, with new presidents tasked with enhancing coordination among party workers.
