Political Tensions Rise Over Musician's Tragic Death

New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has countered Rahul Gandhi's comments regarding the recent death of a musician from Manipur, questioning his silence during a previous controversial statement made by Congress leader Sam Pitroda, who suggested that people from the Northeast resemble the Chinese.

In response to the musician's death, Gandhi criticized the Home Ministry led by Amit Shah, demanding action against the rising lawlessness and a thorough investigation into the incident.

C Vikram Singh, a 54-year-old Manipuri musician, tragically lost his life after allegedly being attacked by a group of delivery workers and dhaba staff for confronting them about their disruptive behavior outside his apartment in Kilokari village early Monday morning.

Authorities have since arrested seven individuals and detained one juvenile in connection with the case.

BJP spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia sharply criticized Gandhi's remarks, questioning the Congress party's stance when Pitroda made his controversial comments about the appearance of Northeastern people.

Bhatia emphasized that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, every citizen feels secure and proud to be Indian.

Pitroda's earlier comments, made in May 2024, sparked outrage when he stated that people from different regions of India resemble various ethnicities, including Chinese and Africans.

The Congress party quickly distanced itself from Pitroda's statements, labeling them as unfortunate and unacceptable, asserting that they do not reflect the party's views.

In a widely shared podcast, Pitroda remarked on India's diversity, stating that despite regional differences, all citizens are united as brothers and sisters, respecting each other's languages, religions, and customs.
