Political Tensions Rise Over E20 Petrol Policy

New Delhi, August 4 - The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has reacted sharply to Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal's decision to march towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi's residence in protest against E20 petrol. The BJP accused Kejriwal of opposing the interests of Indian farmers and attempting to revive his 'failed politics'. The Delhi police intervened, preventing Kejriwal and his supporters from proceeding towards the Prime Minister's residence on Feroz Shah Road.

Kejriwal initiated the march with around 100 participants to submit over 230,000 memorandums against E20 petrol, which contains 20% ethanol. He claims that this fuel policy adversely affects vehicle owners. The former Chief Minister alleged that the central government is promoting ethanol-blended petrol under pressure from U.S. President Donald Trump.

He asserted that the government has 'bowed' to the U.S. on this issue. BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh dismissed Kejriwal's protest as 'absurd', 'pointless', and politically motivated. Chugh stated that the ethanol-blended petrol program has been implemented transparently and scientifically, with no objections raised.

Speaking to reporters in the Parliament complex, he remarked, 'Arvind Kejriwal's march is nonsensical, irresponsible, and meaningless. Everything has been done scientifically. The process has been approved correctly, and no one has complained.' Chugh criticized Kejriwal's campaign against E20 petrol, claiming that the AAP leader is working against the interests of Indian farmers.

He added, 'Kejriwal's campaign is against the farmers of India. You are trying to distance farmers from their income, Mr. Kejriwal. Ethanol is produced from corn, sugarcane, and other agricultural products.'

'Ethanol has been used in many countries around the world for decades, and its application in India has also been scientific.' The BJP leader further claimed, 'Kejriwal merely seeks to create unnecessary controversy. He wants to engage in politics at any cost. He shows no concern for the country, vehicles, or the problems of the people.'

'He is only trying to revive his failed political career. His arguments lack any scientific basis.'
