BJP Responds to Congress's Critique on Foreign Policy Amid Gaza Conflict

The BJP has responded to Congress's criticism regarding its foreign policy in light of the Gaza conflict. National spokesperson Shehzad Poonawala accused Congress of engaging in vote bank politics while emphasizing India's consistent diplomatic stance. He highlighted India's ability to maintain dialogue with multiple nations involved in global conflicts. Meanwhile, Sonia Gandhi's article criticized the Modi government's approach to the Gaza situation, alleging that Israel's actions target Palestinian children. This ongoing political discourse reflects the complexities of India's foreign relations.

BJP's Counterattack Against Congress

On Saturday, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) launched a counteroffensive against the Congress party. This reaction followed an article by Sonia Gandhi, the president of the Congress parliamentary party, published in a prominent news outlet, which discussed the Gaza conflict, Israel, and India's foreign policy. The BJP accused Congress of engaging in vote bank politics concerning international relations.

In response to Gandhi's article, BJP national spokesperson Shehzad Poonawala claimed that while Congress speaks out on Gaza, it remains silent about the atrocities faced by Hindus in Dhaka. He also accused the party of adopting a "double standard" regarding foreign policy.

Poonawala emphasized that this behavior reveals Congress's tendency to shape foreign policy based on electoral considerations. He noted that India has consistently maintained a clear stance on the Gaza issue, having voted in the United Nations and provided humanitarian aid. This commitment led to India's Prime Minister receiving the highest civilian honor from Palestine.

He asserted that India's foreign policy enables the nation to engage in dialogue with all parties involved in global conflicts, including both Palestine and Israel, as well as Ukraine and Russia, and the United States and Iran. Today, India is not merely 'non-aligned' but is 'allied with everyone.' Poonawala further accused Congress of indulging in "cheap vote bank politics" concerning India's foreign policy, stating that this has become a habitual practice for the party.

Sonia Gandhi's Critique of the Modi Government

In her article published in the same news outlet, Sonia Gandhi criticized the Modi government's stance on the Gaza conflict. Referring to a report from a UN independent international commission regarding the occupied Palestinian territories, she alleged that Israel's actions in Gaza aimed to target children and ultimately eradicate the Palestinian existence.
