Protests Erupt in Delhi

New Delhi. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) staged a protest in Delhi on Monday against Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge's alleged offensive comments regarding Prime Minister Narendra Modi. BJP workers gathered near Kharge's residence, demanding an unconditional apology from him. The demonstrators also called for an apology from Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, concerning the same issue.

March Towards Kharge's Residence

BJP leaders and activists attempted to march from Sena Bhawan to Kharge's residence located on Rajaji Marg, but police intervened to prevent them from proceeding. During the protest, participants expressed their dissent against the remarks made about the Prime Minister and chanted slogans against the Congress leadership. The BJP had previously announced a nationwide protest regarding this matter.

Controversy Arises from Kharge's Speech

The controversy began on Sunday during an event commemorating the 139th birth anniversary of Bihar's first Chief Minister, Sri Krishna Singh. During this event, Kharge referenced the Special Intensive Review (SIR) process of the electoral roll and accused the government of alleged irregularities. He stated that those responsible for any discrepancies would face imprisonment.

Political Tensions Escalate

While Kharge was delivering his speech, an audience member interrupted, asserting that 'Modi will not go anywhere.' In response, Kharge allegedly remarked, 'Even Modi's father will go.' This statement has sparked significant political controversy, with the BJP condemning it as disrespectful towards Prime Minister Modi and demanding a public apology from Kharge.

BJP's Stance on Public Discourse

BJP leaders have emphasized that such language should not be used in public forums. Following this incident, it is anticipated that political exchanges between the Congress and BJP will intensify. Currently, the BJP's protests against Kharge's comments continue as part of the ongoing political dispute.
