BJP MP Defends Government's Stance on NEET Protests

Government's Response to NEET Protests

BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj has come forward to support the central government's position regarding the ongoing protests related to the NEET examination. During a press conference in Delhi, she emphasized that the government has shown sensitivity towards the students and accused the protesters of spreading misinformation.

Swaraj mentioned that the government had engaged in discussions with the leaders of the protests and invited their representatives to meet with Union Minister JP Nadda to address the issues at hand.

She stated that she had requested a dialogue with the government, which promptly arranged a meeting with Minister Nadda. Swaraj reassured that the protesters would refrain from further demonstrations. The delegation took two and a half hours to prepare their written demands. However, as protests began, various false narratives were circulated, and attempts were made to spread fake news.

Referring to the protests led by the Cockroach People's Party (CJP) and other organizations, Swaraj noted that the movement was initially framed as a student-led initiative, praising the restraint shown by the authorities. She remarked that the protests initiated by CJP and other parties were labeled as student movements. The government's approach towards this movement has been sensitive... The Delhi police had granted permission to Abhijit Dipke at the airport, valid until 5 PM. Yet, the protesters remained and staged a sit-in at Jantar Mantar for 21 days without any police intervention as long as the protests remained peaceful.

Swaraj further alleged that on July 20, the protesters attempted to march towards Parliament without permission. She stated that they called for a 'March to Parliament' on that day. The importance of institutions in a democracy cannot be overstated. Even when Parliament was surrounded without authorization, the Delhi police maintained their composure. Discussing the government's response to the NEET paper leak, the BJP MP highlighted that the central government acted swiftly by filing an FIR and transferring the investigation to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

She expressed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi views the youth of the nation as builders of the country. Protecting the future of children is our top priority. The examination was scheduled for May 3, and on May 11, it was revealed that the integrity of the exam had been compromised. On the same day, the Ministry of Education filed an FIR and promptly, without delay and with transparency, handed over the investigation to the CBI.
