Celebrating a Milestone Achievement

On Friday, BJP MP Anurag Thakur extended his congratulations to Pranavi Urs for her groundbreaking accomplishment as the first woman to secure a gold medal in golf at the recent Asian Games. He expressed that her victory would serve as a source of inspiration for young girls throughout the nation. Thakur also praised the IGPL for creating opportunities for emerging golfers, highlighting that they awarded Pranavi a prize of Rs 1 crore.

Pranavi's Historic Win

Pranavi made history on October 3, becoming the first Indian female golfer to clinch an individual gold medal at the Asian Games held in Japan. During the DP World India Championship at the Delhi Golf Club, Thakur presented her with a cheque for Rs 1 crore. He remarked, "I want to congratulate Pranavi for this extraordinary achievement as the first woman to win a gold medal in golf at the Asian Games. She has demonstrated to countless young girls in India that winning gold medals in golf is achievable, and that more such victories are possible in the future. Her confidence is remarkable; she even claims she is ready to compete against and beat the boys on the golf course. I also appreciate IGPL and AM Green for hosting such competitive events that allow young golfers to showcase their talents. IGPL has generously awarded her a prize purse of Rs 1 crore."

Call for Increased Corporate Support in Sports

Thakur emphasized the need for more tournaments similar to the ongoing India Championship in New Delhi. He urged corporate entities to invest in sports and support the growth of sporting events, noting that private investment is essential alongside government initiatives to enhance sports infrastructure and funding. He stated, "I believe that more tournaments should be organized and that companies should step up to invest. Sports cannot achieve the necessary funding without corporate backing. While government efforts are important, competitions and championships become truly exceptional when companies contribute their resources."
