Court Ruling in Hyderabad

A special court in Hyderabad has acquitted BJP MLA T. Raja Singh in a case from 2022 concerning alleged comments that hurt religious sentiments. The charges were filed under various sections of the IPC, including 153A(a)(b), 295A, 504, 505(2), and 506. Speaking to the media, Singh expressed his relief at being cleared of the charges, asserting that they were fabricated under political pressure. He expressed confidence in the judiciary and believes he will also be exonerated in other pending cases.

Singh explained that the case against him was initiated in 2022, alleging that he made derogatory remarks about a deity. He claimed that the then BRS government and police, under pressure from AIMIM, enforced the Preventive Detention Act, leading to his imprisonment for nearly 77 days. Following the court's decision, he reiterated his stance that he never made any comments that would offend anyone's religious beliefs. Singh accused the previous BRS government of misrepresenting the case due to AIMIM's influence and stated that false cases have continued against him during the current Congress administration, expressing optimism about being acquitted in those as well.

Lawyer Karunasagar noted that after reviewing witnesses and evidence in the 2022 case filed by the Mangalhat police station, the court found no grounds to proceed. He stated that the special MP/MLA court has cleared MLA Raja Singh of the allegations related to comments on the life of Prophet Muhammad. The complainant acknowledged that the verses cited were linked to Islamic literature. After examining all witnesses and evidence, the court concluded that there was no case against MLA Raja Singh, leading to his acquittal.
