Mithun Chakraborty's Remarks on Voter List Revision

On Sunday, Mithun Chakraborty, a prominent figure in the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), asserted that the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists in West Bengal was conducted in accordance with constitutional guidelines. He accused the Trinamool Congress of raising concerns about this process out of fear of losing in the upcoming assembly elections.

Chakraborty emphasized that the SIR does not infringe upon anyone's rights. During a roadshow in West Medinipur district, he stated to 'PTI-Video' that such revisions are not contentious in other states.

He noted that the Election Commission has carried out this process as per the Constitution, highlighting that it was executed smoothly in Tamil Nadu. He pointed out that there were no issues elsewhere except in West Bengal.

Chakraborty claimed that the Trinamool government is creating a stir over the SIR due to their anxiety about potential electoral defeat. The assembly elections in West Bengal are scheduled to take place in two phases on April 23 and April 29, with the counting of votes set for May 4.
