Devinder Kohli, the General Secretary of BJP District Kangra, has voiced strong disapproval regarding the police's decision to file cases against BJP councillors, workers, and officials following protests that took place prior to the oath-taking ceremony of the Dharamshala Municipal Corporation.
Kohli described the police action as 'unfortunate' and emphasized that protesting is a fundamental democratic right. He accused the Congress-led government of stifling public dissent rather than honoring the sentiments of the people. 'Burning effigies was a symbolic act of protest, entirely valid in a democracy,' he stated, questioning if opposing policies detrimental to the public has now become a criminal offense.
He further questioned, 'Is the government attempting to create an Emergency-like atmosphere in Himachal?' Kohli reassured that the BJP will steadfastly support its members 'like a rock' and will persist in advocating for issues that matter to the public. He urged the government to cease its oppressive tactics and instead concentrate on addressing the concerns of the populace.
