Shrey Awasthi, the Social Media Co-Convenor of the BJP, has launched a strong critique against the Himachal Pradesh Government, accusing it of sidelining local youth and cultural talent while favoring outsiders during significant state events such as the Kangra Carnival. He emphasized that as residents face unemployment and economic hardships, the government's disregard for Himachali artists is both callous and intolerable.

Awasthi pointed out that during the catastrophic Mandi disaster and other emergencies, it was the local artists who stood by the community, providing support and emotional resilience, while many prominent non-Himachali performers were absent. He stated, “Those who supported Himachal in challenging times deserve acknowledgment and opportunities, rather than outsiders who only show up during festivals for financial gain.”

In a direct confrontation, Awasthi criticized the current administration for failing to deliver on its promise of creating one lakh government jobs. He remarked, “If you can't provide 100,000 jobs, at least don’t take away the remaining chances from our youth. If job creation is not feasible, then at least offer platforms for local artists to thrive.”

He further insisted that funds allocated for state events should primarily benefit Himachali talent, not outsiders. “The government must cease the export of opportunities. The financial resources of Himachal should empower its youth. Local talent should have the first claim to these platforms,” he asserted.

Awasthi cautioned that neglecting local culture is not merely an artistic oversight but a significant blow to the morale of the youth and the identity of the state. He urged the government to ensure that Himachali singers, performers, and artists receive maximum representation at major state events and to stop treating local talent as an afterthought.
