BJP Leader Criticizes Congress for Objection to New Scheme Name
BJP's Response to Congress Objections
BJP leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi has shared his thoughts regarding Congress's disagreement with the replacement of MGNREGA by the VB-G Ram Ji scheme. He stated that the opposition party seems to have an issue with the name of Lord Ram, which he believes is the root of their objection. Speaking to a news outlet, Naqvi remarked that Congress is opposing the new name VB-G Ram Ji because they cannot accept the inclusion of Lord Ram's name.
Naqvi pointed out that Congress's problem lies in the fact that the bill includes the name of Lord Ram. He suggested that their inability to tolerate the mention of Lord Ram is the reason behind their uproar. Furthermore, he emphasized that if the development of marginalized communities and other issues can be addressed through a scheme named after Ram Ji, then Congress's concern is not with MGNREGA itself, but solely with the inclusion of Ram Ji's name. He noted that their intolerance towards Lord Ram is once again coming to light.
Additionally, he claimed that the opposition desires that government schemes bear names associated only with their party members, which is why they are creating such a fuss. He expressed that they seem to believe that the names of old schemes should only reflect figures like Nehru, Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, or any member of their family. Whenever Lord Ram's name is mentioned, even in brief, or when the welfare of the poor is discussed, they find it hard to accept, which is the reason for their uproar.
Congress's Counterargument
Congress MP Pramod Tiwari suggested that instead of removing Mahatma Gandhi's name, a new bill should be introduced. He further stated that if it were up to him, he would rename it after Godse. Tiwari questioned why Gandhi's name is being removed from the scheme and insisted that a new initiative should be launched without erasing the legacy of Gandhi.
