BJP Launches 'Parivartan Yatra' in West Bengal Ahead of Assembly Elections
Political Activity Intensifies in West Bengal
As the assembly elections approach in West Bengal, political parties are ramping up their activities. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has entered an active phase in the state, employing new strategies for its campaign. Starting from March 1, 2026, the BJP plans to kick off its 'Parivartan Yatra', which is being viewed as a significant electoral initiative. Through this campaign, the BJP aims to challenge the alleged corrupt, undemocratic, and anti-people governance of the Trinamool Congress (TMC) that has been in power for the past decade. The party is presenting this movement as a major public uprising in West Bengal, signaling its readiness to take on the Mamata Banerjee-led government.
Details of the 'Parivartan Yatra'
According to party leaders, the 'Parivartan Yatra' will operate under the slogan 'Palotano Dorkar, Chai BJP Sorkar', aiming to establish 'complete physical dominance' within the state's organizational network. The BJP plans to cover approximately 5,000 kilometers, reaching all nine organizational divisions of the state simultaneously.
Campaign Strategies
The party leadership has asserted that during the 'Parivartan Yatra', information about central government schemes—such as the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, Ujjwala Yojana, and Ayushman Bharat—will be disseminated door-to-door. They will highlight how the state government's policies have hindered the public from fully benefiting from these initiatives. Sources indicate that the journey will be divided into several routes, extending from North Bengal to South 24 Parganas and the Jangal Mahal region, ensuring effective political messaging even in border and rural areas. To welcome the yatra, extensive plans for district-level gatherings, roadshows, bike rallies, and street meetings have been laid out. The BJP aims to address issues such as women's safety and corruption in the education sector, including teacher recruitment scams.
Key Focus Areas for BJP in Bengal
During the campaign, the BJP's focus in rural Bengal will be on agricultural infrastructure, transparent execution of policies, and alleviating the troubles caused by middlemen. In urban areas, discussions may revolve around industrial development, job creation for youth, and improved urban mobility. Notably, on March 1 and 2, the first phase of the yatra will feature five public meetings on the first day and four on the second, with senior BJP leaders such as Amit Shah, Nitin Nabin, J.P. Nadda, Rajnath Singh, Dharmendra Pradhan, and Shivraj Singh Chouhan expected to participate.
