BJP Intensifies Preparations for Upcoming Uttar Pradesh Assembly Elections

As the BJP prepares for the upcoming Uttar Pradesh assembly elections, the party is focusing on 61 constituencies where it has faced defeats in previous elections. Under the leadership of new state president Pankaj Chaudhary, the party is set to conduct ground-level assessments and strategize to strengthen its grassroots organization. With significant meetings planned and a focus on local engagement, the BJP aims to enhance its electoral prospects in these critical areas. The article delves into the party's strategies, previous election outcomes, and the importance of local worker involvement in ensuring citizens benefit from government schemes.

BJP's Strategic Focus on 61 Assembly Seats

Following the recent cabinet expansion in Uttar Pradesh, the BJP is ramping up its preparations for the assembly elections scheduled for next year. The party has decided to concentrate on 61 assembly constituencies where it has not secured victories in the last three elections held in 2012, 2017, and 2022. Under the leadership of the new state president, Pankaj Chaudhary, the BJP organization is now fully engaged in election mode.

Key Meeting Expected Soon

Sources indicate that a significant meeting involving central party leaders regarding Uttar Pradesh could take place shortly after the Assam government's swearing-in ceremony on Tuesday. This meeting is expected to focus on organizational matters and strategies for addressing the party's weaker constituencies.

Emphasis on 61 Critical Seats

According to insiders, BJP leaders have been instructed to pay special attention to the 61 constituencies where the party has faced defeats in the past three assembly elections. The initial phase will involve ground-level fact-finding in these areas, followed by an assessment of local social dynamics, organizational status, and caste equations to devise a strategy for optimizing the party's cadre and organizational capabilities.

Majority of Seats in Purvanchal

Reports suggest that out of the 61 seats, the largest number—22—are located in the Purvanchal region, including districts like Azamgarh, Mau, Jaunpur, Ghazipur, and Mirzapur. Additionally, around 13 seats in Western Uttar Pradesh, such as Saharanpur, Moradabad, and Bijnor, have also been challenging for the BJP to win.

Previous Election Outcomes

In the 2022 assembly elections, the Samajwadi Party won 27 out of 35 seats in these two regions. However, the BJP later strengthened its position by winning seats like Suar, Rampur, and Kundarki in subsequent by-elections. The remaining seats were divided among the Samajwadi Party's ally, Subhaspa, and the BJP's allies, Apna Dal and Nishad Party, with one seat going to the BSP. Currently, Subhaspa is part of the BJP alliance, with its leader Om Prakash Rajbhar serving as a minister in the Yogi government.

Mandatory Monthly Meetings

Alongside its electoral strategy, the BJP is emphasizing the need to strengthen its grassroots organization. Pankaj Chaudhary has mandated monthly meetings at both booth and district levels. Starting this month, all booth workers will listen to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Mann Ki Baat' program and subsequently hold local meetings to gather feedback from residents.

Local Workers to Assist Residents

Moreover, booth-level workers are tasked with visiting households to ensure that citizens are benefiting from government schemes. If anyone encounters difficulties in accessing these benefits, local BJP workers will provide assistance.

Appointment of State In-Charge Pending

Currently, the Uttar Pradesh BJP does not have a full-time state in-charge. Sources suggest that under the leadership of National President Nitin Naveen, appointments for national party officials will be made soon, after which a new in-charge for Uttar Pradesh will be appointed.
