The Bharmour BJP Mandal, along with various affiliated party units, conducted a significant protest rally today, termed the "Aakrosh Rally," opposing the perceived anti-people policies of the Congress-led government in Himachal Pradesh. The rally was spearheaded by Bharmour-Pangi MLA Dr. Janak Raj, who led the protesters in submitting a comprehensive memorandum to the Chief Minister via the Additional District Magistrate (ADM) of Bharmour, urging immediate action on pressing regional issues.
Major Concerns Raised by Protesters
Key Grievances Highlighted:
- Deplorable Infrastructure: Protesters described the state of National Highway 154-A as "appalling," citing frequent landslides, potholes, and narrow sections that pose risks to travelers. With the pilgrimage and tourist season approaching, the BJP called for urgent repairs.
- Utility Shortages: The group expressed alarm over persistent power outages affecting numerous villages and a worsening drinking water crisis, particularly during the summer months.
- Healthcare and Education Deficiencies: The memorandum highlighted a critical lack of specialist doctors and necessary medical equipment in local health facilities, compelling patients to seek care far from home. The education sector is similarly impacted by a shortage of teachers and inadequate infrastructure.
- Tourism and Agricultural Challenges: Insufficient security, cleanliness, and amenities at tourist destinations are detrimental to the local economy. Farmers also reported challenges in accessing irrigation, quality seeds, fertilizers, and effective marketing channels.
Employment and Governance Concerns
Local Employment and Governance Issues
MLA Dr. Janak Raj pointed out that residents are not receiving sufficient employment opportunities or compensation from the hydroelectric projects in the area. He also noted:
- A significant number of unfilled positions across various government sectors.
- Increasing complaints regarding corruption within local governance.
“The residents of Bharmour-Pangi are enduring hardships due to the government's negligence. We call on the Chief Minister to address these critical issues—from infrastructure to healthcare—to provide essential relief to the community.” — Dr. Janak Raj, MLA.
The rally witnessed substantial participation from BJP members and local citizens. The memorandum directed to Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu cautions that protests will persist if the outlined issues remain unresolved.
