BJP Finalizes Election Strategy for Assam with Seat Sharing Agreement
BJP's Election Strategy in Assam
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has completed its election strategy for Assam, finalizing a seat-sharing agreement with its NDA allies and gearing up for the final phase of campaigning under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. According to the agreement, the BJP will contest 89 seats, while its allies, the Assam Gana Parishad, will field candidates in 26 seats, and the Bodoland People's Front will contest 11 seats. After internal discussions, the seat distribution has been established, and party sources indicate that the focus is now on announcing candidates and initiating the election campaign.
Campaigning and Rally Plans
During the final phase of campaigning, Prime Minister Modi is expected to address three rallies in Assam, tentatively scheduled for April 1, 3, and 6. The BJP aims to concentrate these rallies in politically significant areas to strengthen its position. Additionally, Union Home Minister Amit Shah will lead an aggressive campaign across Assam in March, which will include motivating party workers and enhancing outreach efforts in various regions.
Candidate Selection and Internal Discussions
The BJP's central election committee is currently meeting to finalize candidates, with sources suggesting that approvals for most seats are anticipated soon. The party may release a complete list of candidates within the next two days. According to insiders, the ticket distribution process remains sensitive, as it could significantly impact the local political landscape. Discussions have also touched upon the proposed delimitation in 2027, which party leaders believe could have long-term political implications for the state.
Upcoming Elections in Assam
With the seat-sharing finalized and top leadership actively involved, the BJP is rapidly moving towards implementing its strategy in Assam. Voting for all 126 seats in the state is scheduled for April 9, with the counting of votes set for May 4.
