BJP's Stance on Student Protests

In New Delhi, the BJP has come forward to support the government's management of the protests led by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), emphasizing its commitment to dialogue and sensitivity towards what is being labeled a student movement.

During a press briefing, BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj criticized opposition leaders, particularly Rahul Gandhi, for allegedly exploiting the protests for political gain. She dismissed claims that India's examination system is in disarray as unfounded.

Swaraj noted that when CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke returned from the U.S. on June 6, the Delhi Police allowed him to proceed without hindrance until 5 PM, despite the protest continuing beyond the permitted time.

She highlighted an incident on July 20, where an unauthorized attempt was made to encircle Parliament, labeling it a sign of chaos. Despite this, she stated that the government remained open to discussions.

Swaraj mentioned that there were no requests for dialogue from the protesters between June 6 and July 20, but once they reached out, the government promptly arranged a meeting with J P Nadda.

During this meeting, the protesters were asked to withdraw their agitation and submit their demands in writing, as they had not prepared a memorandum beforehand.

She refuted claims that the protesters were made to wait, asserting that it was their delegation that took considerable time to draft the memorandum while the government waited.

After meeting with Nadda, the protesters reportedly assured the government they would cease their agitation but did not follow through.

Swaraj accused the protesters of disseminating numerous false narratives, including misleading social media posts about alleged incidents during the protests.

Targeting Rahul Gandhi, she criticized his choice to protest outside the Prime Minister's residence instead of engaging in parliamentary discussions, suggesting that he was avoiding his responsibilities.

Swaraj pointed out the disunity among opposition parties, highlighting their internal disputes over credit for the protests, which she argued indicates that the movement is more about political opportunism than genuine student concerns.

She urged the opposition to prioritize students' interests over political agendas.

In light of recent examinations conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA), Swaraj asserted that the agency successfully managed three national-level exams in the past three months, countering claims of a failing education system.

She concluded by reaffirming that the government, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, prioritizes the welfare of students and is dedicated to safeguarding their futures.
