BJP's Strong Rebuttal to Rahul Gandhi's Claims

New Delhi, August 5 - The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) launched a sharp critique against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday, labeling him as an 'immature' and 'part-time' opposition leader. The party accused him of obstructing parliamentary proceedings out of fear that the performance of the Narendra Modi government would be compared unfavorably to that of the previous Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government. The ruling party also alleged that Gandhi made 'baseless' comments against the BJP and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).

During the launch of former MP Vaiko's book on Tuesday, Gandhi stated that students across the nation are in 'deep distress' and do not seek an apology from Prime Minister Modi; instead, they want him to publicly apologize for the government's actions.

He further asserted that students are protesting because the RSS is attempting to rewrite the country's history. Gandhi emphasized that India will not accept its history being trampled by anyone, asserting that every state has the right to be treated equally with respect to its culture, while the RSS aims to promote a singular historical perspective.

BJP's national spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia, during a press conference, accused Rahul Gandhi of being an 'immature', 'part-time', and 'irresponsible' opposition leader, claiming that he disrupts parliamentary sessions due to fear that comparisons with the Modi government will expose the Congress's failures. Bhatia stated, 'Rahul Gandhi is scared. He knows that when the effective Modi government is compared to the spineless Congress-led government from 2004 to 2014, the character of Congress will be revealed.'

Responding to Gandhi's remarks about the BJP and RSS, Bhatia claimed that the Congress leader is afflicted by 'Modi-phobia' and 'RSS-phobia', repeatedly labeling the RSS ideology as 'toxic' without any evidence. He remarked, 'It is easy to call the ideology that has served the nation with integrity 'toxic', but proving it without evidence is impossible.'

While addressing Gandhi's comments on students and examination reforms, Bhatia pointed out that the Congress leader remains silent on the alleged paper leak incidents in opposition-ruled states.

He noted, 'When there was a paper leak in Jharkhand, Rahul Gandhi was nowhere to be found. The same goes for Karnataka and Kerala.'

He questioned, 'Why this double standard and hypocrisy?'

In response to a question about the ongoing parliamentary deadlock, Bhatia accused Gandhi of fleeing the house when he cannot counter the government's arguments during discussions. He stated, 'Shouldn't the leader of the opposition come fully prepared to the house when the parliamentary session is ongoing? Rahul Gandhi runs away from Parliament.'

Bhatia added that when Prime Minister Modi, Rajnath Singh, and Amit Shah present facts, Gandhi has no answers.

He also highlighted the Modi government's record in repatriating fugitives from abroad, claiming it illustrates the difference between the NDA and the previous UPA government. He mentioned, 'Between 2019 and 2026, 274 fugitives were brought back from 36 countries, averaging 40 fugitives returned each year.'

In contrast, he noted that during the UPA's tenure, only an average of four fugitives were returned each year.

On the occasion of the seventh anniversary of the abrogation of most provisions of Article 370, Bhatia referred to August 5 as a 'historic day', crediting Prime Minister Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah for this achievement.
