BJP Criticizes Karnataka Government for Internal Political Struggles

BJP's Critique of Karnataka's Governance

On Tuesday, Shahzad Poonawala, the national spokesperson for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), expressed strong criticism of the Karnataka government, accusing it of prioritizing internal political conflicts over its governance and administrative responsibilities. He pointed out that despite being in power for an extended period, the state government remains embroiled in power struggles, leading to the neglect of crucial governance issues.

Poonawala remarked that there was hope that after three years of ongoing power disputes in Karnataka, the focus would finally shift to administration and governance. However, he noted that the government is still caught up in these conflicts.

He further alleged that the state leadership has ignored significant issues such as public infrastructure, pothole repairs, waterlogging, economic debts, and corruption. According to him, there has not been a single meeting addressing the problems of pothole-ridden roads, waterlogging, and corruption in Karnataka. Instead, discussions are centered around who will receive which ministerial positions.

Poonawala also claimed that ongoing political negotiations within the ruling party have paralyzed the administrative machinery, causing distress among the public. He stated that the entire administration is at a standstill, leading to public frustration. These comments come amid political discussions regarding leadership coordination and cabinet formation within Karnataka's ruling structure, particularly following Siddaramaiah's resignation on May 28 and DK Shivakumar's upcoming swearing-in as Chief Minister on June 3.

In related developments, senior Congress leaders have gathered in Delhi, where the party's high command is finalizing the new cabinet with outgoing Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and the designated Chief Minister Shivakumar. Decisions regarding ministerial roles and the deputy chief minister's position are expected to be made during these meetings.
