BJP Criticizes Himachal Pradesh Government Over Healthcare Crisis
BJP's Strong Critique of the State Government
Palampur
Senior spokesperson for the BJP, Trilok Kapoor, has launched a fierce critique against the Congress-led government in Himachal Pradesh, specifically targeting Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu for his handling of the recent Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC) controversy in Shimla. Kapoor accused the administration of taking 'unconstitutional and unprofessional' actions that have severely impacted healthcare services in the state.
“The System is Suffering”
Kapoor stated, “Currently, the entire system in Himachal has become a patient itself, with the Chief Minister being the primary reason for its deterioration. Patients are losing their lives in the state's largest hospital, while attendants are left scrambling for help, and doctors are working under constant fear. The threat of dismissal looms over every government employee, which poses a significant risk to any democratic framework.”
Concerns Over Rule Violations
The BJP leader raised concerns about the government's disregard for established CCS (CCA) Rules during their actions. “In a bid for cheap popularity, the Chief Minister has overlooked constitutional protocols. Consequently, the healthcare services in the state have ground to a halt. Had this issue been managed with professionalism, the residents of Himachal would not be facing such dire circumstances,” Kapoor remarked.
“Adding Insult to Injury”
In a further critique of the government's insensitivity, Kapoor noted that while the state grapples with the fallout from disaster management laws and failing health services, the Congress administration is preoccupied with organizing festivities in Shimla and Dharamshala. “This is akin to adding insult to the injury of suffering patients and their worried families,” he stated.
BJP's Call for Change
Kapoor urged the Chief Minister to abandon what he termed a “dictatorial approach” and to respect democratic and constitutional principles. He cautioned that if healthcare services are not promptly restored and the prevailing atmosphere of fear among employees is not alleviated, the BJP will not hesitate to mobilize the public for action.
