BJP's Strong Critique of Congress
On Wednesday, BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawala sharply criticized the Congress party, accusing it of betraying its coalition partners. He claimed that Congress has a history of using parties like RJD, Shiv Sena, NCP, and now DMK, only to abandon them later. Poonawala described the Indian coalition as lacking a clear objective and vision.
In a conversation with a news media outlet, Poonawala labeled Congress as the biggest deceiver among coalition parties. He pointed out that they exploit regional parties for their own benefit and then discard them. He noted that Congress has previously utilized RJD and then left it behind, as well as the Shiv Sena faction led by Uddhav Thackeray and Sharad Pawar's NCP faction, only to now turn to DMK, gain seats, and then abandon them. Thus, he concluded that the Indian coalition lacks a coherent goal and vision.

Poonawala further accused Congress of exploiting regional allies for its own gain, labeling the Indian coalition as filled with confusion, division, and corruption, driven by a thirst for power. He stated that this coalition is characterized by confusion, division, corruption, and an obsession with power, which is why they have come together. However, he questioned the current status of the Indian coalition, asking where it was during the Bengal and Kerala elections, and noted that it seems to be disintegrating in Maharashtra and Bihar as well. He remarked that the relationship between DMK and Congress has reached a breaking point, attributing this to Congress's relentless pursuit of power. He likened Congress's behavior to that of a parasite, using regional parties merely for electoral gains and discarding them once they achieve their objectives.
Meanwhile, a rift within the Indian coalition has become evident. One of the longest-standing alliances between Congress and DMK is on the verge of collapse, as Congress has approved support for the government led by Vijay in Tamil Nadu. DMK spokesperson Saravanan Annadurai sharply criticized Congress for this decision, calling it a "lack of foresight" and accusing them of betraying their coalition partners.

He expressed that Congress's stance is shortsighted and narrow-minded, which they may come to regret. With the significant elections of 2029 approaching, he expressed confidence that they would oust the BJP from power. However, he noted that Congress's recent decision has made them a very unstable ally, leading to a widespread perception that Congress is untrustworthy. According to sources, after Vijay's party fell short by 10 seats for a majority in the 2026 assembly elections, Congress has unanimously decided to support Tamilaga Vettir Katchi (TVK) to form a government in the state.
