BJP Criticizes Congress and TMC Over Bangladesh Violence: A Call for Unity
BJP's Strong Response to Opposition Leaders
In a recent press conference in New Delhi, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) launched a fierce critique against the Congress party regarding their comments on the ongoing situation in Bangladesh. The BJP also directed its ire towards the Trinamool Congress (TMC) government in West Bengal for employing force against demonstrators protesting alleged minority oppression in the neighboring nation.
BJP spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari accused the opposition of prioritizing appeasement politics over a unified response to what he termed a humanitarian crisis. He expressed concern over senior Congress figures, like Digvijaya Singh, who he claimed justified the lynching of a Hindu by labeling it as an 'action-reaction'.
Bhandari emphasized that this issue transcends politics and should unite all parties in solidarity against violence. He criticized the selective silence of opposition leaders, suggesting their actions are influenced by electoral considerations.
He stated, 'Mamata Banerjee opted for a lathi charge against Hindus, while Digvijaya Singh defended the lynching of a Hindu youth, and Rahul Gandhi remained silent from Germany. This indicates that the opposition leaders, driven by their vote bank politics, have chosen to overlook the mob lynching of Hindus in Bangladesh.'
The spokesperson further asserted that had the opposition genuinely condemned the violence against Hindus, their reactions would have been markedly different. He remarked that if they had not accepted the atrocities silently, figures like Rahul Gandhi or Mamata Banerjee would have spoken out, and the latter would not have resorted to force against peaceful protesters.
Bhandari also condemned the actions of West Bengal's Chief Minister regarding police treatment of protesters in Kolkata. He noted that demonstrators were pleading for a peaceful protest, yet the police responded with violence.
The protests in Kolkata intensified following the murder of a garment factory worker in Bangladesh, leading to clashes and significant traffic disruptions as police attempted to disperse the crowd.
During the press briefing, Bhandari presented images purportedly showing police actions against protesters advocating for Hindus in Bangladesh. He claimed, 'In West Bengal, while police support initiatives like the Babri Masjid foundation, those protesting for Hindu rights face lathi charges.'
He warned of escalating political actions, asserting that the BJP would continue to support those protesting against injustices. 'If this oppression persists, the BJP will stand resolutely with every Bengali Hindu. The brutal killings of Hindus in Bangladesh have incited outrage across the nation,' he concluded.
