BJP Challenges Rahul Gandhi: Resign if You Doubt Election Commission's Integrity!

The BJP has issued a strong challenge to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, demanding his resignation from the Lok Sabha if he continues to question the Election Commission's integrity. Spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia criticized Gandhi for not providing evidence for his claims of 'vote theft' and called for resignations from other Congress leaders as well. In response, Gandhi reaffirmed his commitment to the Constitution and called for investigations into alleged electoral fraud in Karnataka. This political standoff raises significant questions about trust in India's electoral institutions.

BJP's Strong Stance Against Rahul Gandhi

New Delhi: On Saturday, the BJP demanded that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi resign from his Lok Sabha position on 'moral grounds' if he questions the integrity of the Election Commission. The party criticized him for failing to provide a written statement regarding his allegations of 'vote theft.'

BJP spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia also urged Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra to step down from their respective parliamentary roles if they lack confidence in the electoral process.

During a press briefing at the BJP headquarters, Bhatia stated, 'You (Rahul Gandhi) make unfounded claims to the media and then refuse to provide evidence when requested by the constitutional authority.'

He referenced a previous Supreme Court ruling, emphasizing that the court recognized the Election Commission's credibility and its established reputation for impartiality over the years.

'If you do not trust the Election Commission or the Supreme Court's findings, resign from the Lok Sabha. Priyanka Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi should also resign on moral grounds for questioning the Election Commission,' Bhatia asserted.

He further suggested that the chief ministers of Congress-led states like Karnataka, Telangana, and Himachal Pradesh should also resign, as their leaders express distrust in the Election Commission.

'You accept what suits you and dismiss what doesn’t, casting doubt on the Election Commission. This approach is unacceptable,' Bhatia added.

In response, Gandhi reaffirmed his commitment to the Constitution during a rally in Bengaluru, stating that he had already taken an oath in Parliament. He called for an investigation into the alleged presence of fake voters in Karnataka ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

'The Election Commission demands an affidavit from me, but I have already sworn an oath in Parliament, before the Constitution,' he remarked.

Bhatia dismissed Gandhi's 'vote theft' allegations as false, labeling him as an 'anarchic element' intent on undermining India's Constitution and democracy.

He also criticized Gandhi for being 'immature' and waging a war against constitutional institutions by threatening Election Commission officials.
