BJP Appoints Harsh Sanghavi as Central Observer for Rajya Sabha Elections in Haryana
BJP's Strategic Move for Rajya Sabha Elections
New Delhi/Gandhinagar, March 9: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has designated Gujarat's Deputy Chief Minister, Harsh Sanghavi, as the central observer for the forthcoming Rajya Sabha elections in Haryana, as per an official announcement made on Monday.
The declaration was made by Arun Singh, the National General Secretary of the BJP, who confirmed that the appointments received the endorsement of the party's National President, Nitin Nabin.
Sanghavi's role will involve managing party coordination and organizational logistics during the Rajya Sabha election process in Haryana.
Central observers are generally responsible for facilitating communication between the party's state leadership and the central command, overseeing election preparations, and maintaining organizational discipline during the voting process by legislators.
In addition to Sanghavi's appointment, the BJP has also named observers for other states where Rajya Sabha elections are on the horizon.
For Bihar, Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma and Union Minister Harsh Malhotra have been appointed as observers.
In Odisha, the responsibility has been assigned to Maharashtra government minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule.
According to the release, "The observers are tasked with ensuring organizational coordination and managing party activities during the Rajya Sabha election process in their respective states."
Meanwhile, political activities related to the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections are intensifying in Bihar.
Last week, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar submitted his nomination for a seat in the Upper House, while Nabin has also been nominated by the party as its candidate from the state.
After the scrutiny of nomination papers, six candidates were confirmed to be contesting for five Rajya Sabha seats from Bihar, including Nitish Kumar and Nitin Nabin.
The BJP has put forth Nabin along with party leader Shivesh Kumar from the state as part of its candidate roster for the biennial elections.
The Election Commission has set the date for the Rajya Sabha biennial elections on March 16, with polling scheduled across various states where members' terms are expiring in April.
These elections will elect new representatives to the Upper House from states such as Bihar, Haryana, Odisha, Assam, and others, with legislators in the respective state assemblies casting their votes to select the members.
